Inception: leaking the root hash from /etc/shadow on AMD Zen 4

 

In this demo demonstrates leaking the root password has on an up-to-date Linux machine running Ubuntu 22.04 on kernel 5.19. The CPU is the latest generation, AMD Zen 4 microarchitecture. All AMD CPUs released in the last few years are vulnerable to this attack.
